Ticino offers various opportunities for excursions and activities. From Orselina, you can reach hiking trails of varying difficulty levels, sights such as the Madonna del Sasso or the Cardada-Cimetta panoramic mountain, as well as cultural events in Locarno and Ascona. Lago Maggiore is 7 minutes away, Locarno with its famous Piazza is 10 minutes by car, and Ascona with its lakeside promenade is 17 minutes away. If you prefer to stay nearby, you will find a bakery and small shops in the village of Orselina. Maps, route suggestions and information on current events are available at the reception.
Every August, the Piazza Grande transforms into an open-air cinema under the stars. The Locarno Film Festival is one of the most important film festivals in the world and shows international productions on one of the largest screens in Europe. Tickets can be booked in advance, spontaneous visits are often possible.
For over ten days in June or July, Ascona turns into a jazz stage. Hundreds of concerts, jam sessions and street performances are spread across the old town and the lakeside promenade. Admission to most open-air events is free, ticket prices apply for selected concerts.
The pop and rock festival takes place annually in July on the Piazza Grande. International artists perform several evenings in a row, accompanied by food stalls and bars. Tickets are available in advance, there is no box office for sold-out concerts.
